FAQ: What is the Article Feed?

An article feed is an automatically generated feed of all articles in an issue. The content is recognized, processed, and displayed in a clear, modern layout using AI.

This turns a classic PDF or magazine view into a scrollable article overview, similar to modern news apps.

What is the AI Article Feed?

The AI Article Feed automatically identifies the articles in an issue and displays them as a structured list. This allows readers to discover content more quickly, open individual articles, and get an overview of the issue.

Each recognized article can include, among other things:

  • an article title
  • a short description
  • a lead image
  • an estimated reading time
  • a summary of the content
  • a read-aloud function
  • options for sharing the content

The content is presented in the form of a modern feed, which is especially suitable for mobile use and quick browsing.

What is the Article Feed useful for?

The AI Article Feed improves the use of digital publications by making content easier to access.

It turns a classic PDF or digital magazine into:

  • a scrollable article overview
  • a modern entry point into the content
  • an improved user experience
  • faster access to individual articles
  • a convenient alternative to browsing through individual pages

This allows readers to find relevant content more quickly and open it directly.

Why AI?

AI automatically takes over tasks that would otherwise have to be created or maintained manually. These include, for example:

  • recognizing individual articles from the layout
  • creating short descriptions
  • creating summaries
  • calculating the estimated reading time
  • generating an audio file for the read-aloud function
  • selecting or assigning a suitable lead image

This enables content to be processed more efficiently and presented in a modern format.

Sharing content

Articles and content from the Article Feed can be shared.

Sharing in the app

In the app, the sharing function is available via Actions > Share.

This allows readers to share content directly using the options available on their device, for example via messenger, email, or other installed apps.

Sharing in the Browser Client

A sharing function is also available in the Browser Client.

Instead of using a custom sharing dialog, the native sharing function of the respective browser or operating system is used. This behavior is similar to that in the mobile apps.

Readers see the familiar sharing options of their device or browser, for example:

  • messenger
  • email
  • copying the link
  • other available apps or services

This allows content to be shared directly via the reader’s preferred channels.

Notes

Summaries and the read-aloud function are generated automatically and are available depending on the article length and the available content basis.

The quality of the automatically generated content depends on the structure and quality of the source data.

The Article Feed is an additional feature and must be activated for the respective publication or app.
